A Natural Disaster

Find this poem and more on my other blog: Musings of a Black Girl

We are fire.
Setting the world aflame.
The spark between us
like crimson embers.
Our passion
leaving ashen ruins
in our wake.

Embattled affection.
Fault lines in
fractured Earth.
Shifting and quaking.
Unsteadying the ground
our feet.

A yearning
Like frigid wind
and stinging rain.
Destructively drowning
at its worst.
At its most gentle
fostering growth.

We are the
after the storm.
The most natural
of disasters.
The risk
most worth taking.
